Parts of the Plot:

Exposition
Mia Nolasco who was played by Jennylyn Mercado is a screenwriter who comes from a broken family she writes Filipino blockbuster films and script which reflects her life experiences and her own love life. Jericho Rosales as Ethan Isaac, on the other hand, is a businessman who lives on his own. They both met in college where it all started. Ethan chose to stay in the Philippines because of his love for Mia. As they journey through their love life, Mia continuously writes stories that create a big impact to people. Their love deepened for each other that they see themselves marrying each other soon, until a big fight came in between them, Mia breaks up with Ethan, because she realized that they are still not yet ready to live together and live accordingly to each other’s plans especially that Ethan wants to live in Taiwan with his family. Mia lost inspiration and struggled to write films that are pleasing to her directors.

Rising Action
Their lives continued without each other, however, it was difficult for the two of them since they constantly thought about each other. The directors of Mia were getting disappointed at her since she couldn’t compose scripts that are fascinating enough for blockbuster films. One night, Aldus, Ethan’s best friend had a boy’s night out and there he made Ethan realize that Mia is still the center of his heart. Aldus also asked Ethan to consult a neurologist to make sure that his health is fine before he leaves for Taiwan. Since Mia and Ethan are college friends, their paths always meet, especially in college gatherings. They realized that they still love each other and thinking that they should give each other a second chance. They spent time together thinking that they are already settled and they are moving on from what just had happened.

Climax
Mia and Ethan are happily back together until Ethan consulted a neurologist and found out that he has a brain tumor. Ethan felt hurt about it because he knew that his days on earth are counted and it made him more upset since his brain tumor has no symptoms and the doctors couldn’t cure him. Ethan finalized his schedule to get back to Taiwan as soon as possible. Meanwhile, Mia was improving in her works since she was fully inspired. Ethan being uncomfortable about his sickness, he decided to distance himself to Mia because he didn’t know how to confront her and he didn’t want to hurt her once again. He lied to Mia by saying that he has a fiancé in Taiwan for ten years. One night during one of their friends’ party, Mia’s best friend, Luli was mad about the fact that Mia wasn’t invited to the party and Luli believes the reason why Mia wasn’t answering her calls was because Ethan kept breaking Mia’s heart. Aldus, finally told all their friends that Ethan is dying soon. The next day, Luli immediately told Mia before Ethan leaves for Taiwan.

Falling action
Ethan gets to Taiwan to be with his mother, he promised his mother he would spend the rest of his life enjoying with her and leaving all his memories back in the Philippines. His mother pranked him about eating dinner out but he sees Mia inside the restaurant. They both had a deep closure, they told each other they want to spend the rest of their lives together despite each trouble and challenge they will experience. They spent meaningful time and moment together in Taiwan to make sure that all that is left in Ethan’s life is worth it.

Dénouement
The story ended by Mia and Ethan having their own child. Ethan died but Mia and their son’s life continued happily as Mia was becoming more successful in writing films. She wrote a film that reflected their own story in the Philippines, in Taiwan and as Ethan died. She realized that there is forever when you only believe that it really exist in life. Mia also explained that seeing him die in her own arms and being the last person in his life to “I love you”, and loving each other fully until his last breath is already enough for her.

Why did you like the film? In what aspect?
I love this film, “Walang Forever” because honestly, it’s a cliché type of film because when we know that one person is terminally ill we are expecting that the person will also die in the end. However, this film touched my heart because it’s realistic. The story was handled beautifully and creatively especially Mia’s character as a writer who writes about her own life experiences. I love the film in the aspect of how the actors portray their role, they were so effective that there are moments in the film wherein Jericho as Ethan was only staring at an old couple, and he didn’t say anything but it was already heartbreaking. Jennylyn Mercado as Mia, was also effective for she was consistent with her emotions throughout the whole film. The film was truly heartbreaking and if we dig deeper into its real meaning, we will realize what love can really be like and it will make us think of our own version and understanding of forever.
